Cycling is much more than just pedaling.

It is passion, effort, dedication and, above all, legacy. And today we want to talk about a legacy that resonates in every corner of Spain, about that legacy that Guillermo Timoner left us.

A Mallorcan who not only pedaled along paths and tracks but also through the hearts of all of us. At 97 years old, we have said goodbye to a true legend of Spanish cycling, a pioneer, a benchmark: Guillermo Timoner. His departure leaves us with an immense void, but also the satisfaction of having been contemporaries of his greatness.

🌟 If we talk about achievements, wow he had them! 🏆

Six world titles on track (middle distance) between 1955 and 1965 . But beyond the trophies and medals, Timoner became the symbol of perseverance and love for this sport. And, of course, he always wore the emblematic rainbow jersey with great pride, being the first from our country to do so. He began his love affair with cycling in 1945, winning his first national championship. From that moment on, his rise was meteoric, leaving an indelible mark on the national sport.

"Marxa de Llevant Sportive"

We were very lucky that our neighbor Guillermo Timoner participated in our  "Marxa de Llevant 2006", organized by Bicis Sancho , which Timoner, already a figure, participated with humility and enthusiasm. And not only him, but also his beloved family. 🚴‍♂️👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 That without his wife, his pillar, Timoner would not have been who he was. With her by her side, he demonstrated time and time again her greatness both on the track and in everyday life.

By the way, do you remember that iconic moment at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium? Yes, Timoner shared the stage with Federico Martín Bahamontes, leaving us an image for history. 🌟 What Timoner achieved in track cycling is comparable to what the greats of football achieve in stadiums. Fans filled the velodromes with the same passion and fervor that they fill the stands of a stadium, just to see him in action. Today, although sadness overwhelms us 😢, we prefer to remember Timoner with a smile. For everything he gave, for how he inspired and for how he continues to inspire generations of cyclists who dream of following his pedaling.

Rest in peace, great Timoner. Your legacy will continue rolling forever in the heart of Spanish cycling.
